Can you wear ear tapers to sleep?

Just wondering... cuz my mom is being paranoid about me wearing tapers (not only at night but anytime) because she thinks theyll stab my jugular vein in my neck and ill bleed to death or something... LOL :| so my question is... is it safe to wear tapers to sleep? and will it stab my neck??
