It sure seems like it! The question is whether of not you like him? If you don't then why waste your time worrying. Or you could just ask him. But since you don't know him at all, that would be pretty awkward. Since you mentioned that you know some of his friends, maybe you could ask or kinda drop some hints you know... Either way, if he does he probably will. I doubt he would notice if you look lonely or not if he didn't :)
