Is there a more effective way of doing this?

that sounds great! what ever you try it will have to be battier powered and you already got that down .have you looked into small white string lights like xmas lights ?their called wedding lights .or fairy lights.just Google wedding lights and see what you come up with.. and i wish you and yours a long healthy happy marriage ,god bless
